Athletics encompasses track and field events including running races, long jump, shot put, and more. Athletes of all ability levels compete in individual events tailored to their skills, building speed, strength, and endurance.

Basketball teaches athletes the fundamentals of dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork. THV fields both traditional 5-on-5 teams and Unified teams where athletes and partners compete side by side.

Bocce

Bocce

Precision, strategy, and friendly competition.

Bocce is a classic lawn sport where athletes roll balls as close as possible to a small target ball called the pallino. It is accessible to athletes of all mobility levels and is a wonderful social sport.

Strike up the fun — every frame counts.

Bowling is one of the most popular Special Olympics sports. Athletes develop focus, coordination, and sportsmanship while competing in a welcoming indoor environment year-round.

Cycling events include road races, time trials, and criteriums. Athletes ride standard two-wheel bikes or tandem bikes with a sighted pilot partner, building cardiovascular fitness and independence.

Golf challenges athletes to develop patience, focus, and fine motor skills. Competitions are held on regulation courses with divisions based on ability, making the sport accessible to beginners and experienced players alike.

Pickleball combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. Played on a smaller court with a paddle and wiffle-style ball, it is easy to learn and highly social — one of our fastest-growing sports.

Embrace winter and blaze your own trail.

Snowshoeing brings athletes outdoors in the winter months for races across snowy terrain. It builds endurance and balance while giving athletes a unique opportunity to enjoy Michigan winters in a competitive setting.

Soccer develops agility, coordination, and teamwork. THV offers both traditional 11-on-11 and small-sided formats, as well as Unified Soccer where athletes and partners share the field together.

Softball is a beloved THV tradition. Athletes learn batting, fielding, base running, and the spirit of the game. Slow-pitch formats make the sport accessible while keeping competition exciting.

Swimming events range from 25-meter freestyle sprints to longer distance races and relays. Athletes compete in the stroke and distance that best matches their ability, with divisions ensuring fair and meaningful competition.
